Jonna Fries, Psy.D., and Debi Fries, MFT, present an overview of IBP's approach to developmental themes. We know that our earliest experiences are held in our bodies and that over time we learn to adapt to others' negative responses by shutting down our aliveness. Because emotions are "unsafe" to experience, we have difficulty tolerating them with authenticity and presence. To what extent do our childhood experiences influence our lives today and how does this process occur? How much impact does our history have on our current emotions, decisions, and perceptions of self and other?
